May the 4th Be With You

In honor of May the 4th, I thought I would do a roundup of my favorite Star Wars flavored posts and memories with E-Rad’s Cantina. Star Wars has been such a big part of my life for as long as I can remember, so let’s just say that I’m not hurting for content when it comes to this subject πŸ˜‰

I’m on Patreon! Yayyyyyyyy!

patreon.com/eradscantina

Ignoring the fact that I am DEFINITELY reading a script that Jeff is carefully holding underneath the camera, the information remains the same πŸ˜€ I started a Patreon page to further aid me in my quest to provide more custom content! Over the last few weeks, I’ve started drawing, strategizing and creating a new line of geek fandom clothes that I CAN NOT WAIT to show to the world. My apartment is a mess, but it’s totally worth it.

If you want to support me on Patreon, I would, of course, appreciate it, but I promise I’ll give you something in return. I’ll be posting a lot of my artistic process on my Patreon feed, which isn’t something I typically share this early in the game. For now, there is only the $1 a month level to unlock. Nothing too crazy over here. I hope to have more things available over time, which I have lots of ideas for, but until then, keep an eye out for new content!

Thanks everyone!

Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con 2016

This last weekend was Comikaze, or as it is now known, Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con. Jeff and I were only able to swing by on Saturday, but it was the first day I was able to wear my McCree cosplay!! It was SO EXCITING because it’s what I’m considering to be my first “hardcore” cosplay build. I did do a quick Mabel Pines to San Diego though, but this is my first worbla/foam/masking tape patterns all over my body extravaganza.

Her Universe Fashion Show 2016

This year at SDCC, I had the wonderful pleasure of attending the Her Universe Fashion Show (something I’ve wanted to see for a few years now), and it was honestly the high point for me the entire weekend… And I saw the Steven Universe panel, so…. ya.

*All photos and video in this post were taken by me for this blog πŸ˜€

I was so filled up with inspiration and ideas watching these INCREDIBLE designers doing LITERALLY EVERYTHING I LOVE IN THIS WORLD, which is mixing geek fandoms with fashion. I had died and gone to heaven. It was incredible.

The show started off with the main lady herself, Ashley Eckstein (founder of Her Universe and voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, nbd). She was sporting a dress MADE ENTIRELY OF LEGOS designed by Andrew Maclaine.

Wondercon 2016 Cosplay

Hey everyone!

As promised, here is the cosplay roundup from Wondercon 2016. There were some absolutely incredible cosplayers and a GORGEOUS room to photograph them in (so. much. light.). The photos are all more candid than usual though, and this is why (from my previous post):

Actually, let me just touch on this lens real quick, because it will really set the stage for the photos you are about to see. This lens is an 85mm telephoto lens with NO zoom. What this means is that while it takes LOVELY photos (see everything so far), I have to stand what feels like 1 mile away from the subject I am photographing in order to get them in the frame. Asking for a photo and then getting one without someone walking in front of me was as likely to happen as it was to see a pack of cosplaying dogs. So, all of my photos are creepy candid sniper-esque photos. I could have switched lenses and had a little more range with my photos, but that lens sucks in comparison, so I just sucked it up and decided to do a more candid photo journal this time around πŸ˜‰

As always, if you see your photo and don’t wish it to be posted, please let me know and I will remove it right away. Also, if you see yourself or see someone you know, PLEASSEEE let me know so I can properly credit you/them. I’m about to spend the day creeping on instagram trying to ID as many of these as I can, so any help is much appreciated πŸ™‚

Now, without further ado, enjoy these incredible talented cosplayers:

Star Wars Marathon Movie Night

It’s nearly time for the new Star Wars, and if you have been following my posts this month, you could say that I am VERY excited. This weekend, I planned a Star Wars marathon movie night for Jeff and I and a couple of friends. It was a pretty small gathering, but we hit the Star Wars theme pretty hard.

As an extra bonus, almost everything we did for this get-together is accompanied by a how-to blog post (or will be in the coming days). Star Wars for everyone!!

Force Friday

Force Friday

Well, today is Force Friday, which means at participating retailers, new Star Wars merchandise officially went on sale. It’s a very exciting time for Star Wars fans. I actually hadn’t heard of this event until yesterday morning, when my friend Michelle sent me a thousand links, each one making me more excited than the last. I started skyping Jeff, and asked him if he’d be down to go. He was like, “I don’t know…” so I sent him this video of the BB-8 toy, and he was like, “yes, ok.”
