Lately, I’ve been playing a lot of World of Warcraft. People, I’m talking an LOT. I actually used to play the game all the time a few years back and quit right after Wrath of the Litch King came out. Fast forward a few years, and my boyfriend and I decided to pick it up again. So much for spending our free time doing actual productive things.
Back in April of this year, there was a video shot at the Calgary Comic Expo during a Q&A with Wil Wheaton. It went viral, and Mr. Wheaton was dubbed, “The King of the Nerds.” It was amazing and wonderful and moving and I highly recommend you watch this video here if you haven’t already.
I watched the video and cried a little (no judgies) because his words really hit home for me. Being involved in this “nerd” community, you either really love some things or really un-love some things, and that’s okay. The point he really drove home, though, was that while it is okay to love/not love certain things, just remember to not be a dick about it (his words). Sometimes it’s so easy to fall into that negative mindset, and you don’t even realize it’s happening.
On the flip side, though, don’t let anyone make you feel bad for loving the things that you love. If you like sci-fi, awesome. Comics? Great! Really into Jar Jar Binks? Tha— that’s um… you know what, sure, that’s cool too!
So while we are all out there blogging and cosplaying and gaming and reading, remember the wise words of Mr. Wheaton, “Don’t let anyone tell you that that thing that you love is a thing that you can’t love.”
I can dig that, Wheaton.
A while back, I decided that I wanted to put my creative muscles to use, and make a web design relating to something that I loved. The first thing that I thought of was Princess Bride (it being my favorite movie and all). However translating something you are a fan of into a web site can be a little bit of a challenge.
After lots of brainstorming, I decided to put together a web design for The Dread Pirate Roberts. Brave, brutal, iconic (and sexy), he was the perfect muse! Take a look at my results:
I know it’s hard to get a good look at it in the monitor above, so here is the full site up close and personal! Sorry it’s so long- I wanted to keep it as a single page design.

So there you have it, the project I’ve been sweating and toiling over for the last few weeks! Worth it, worth it, worth it! Enjoy! 🙂

There are few people I know that have as much color and vivaciousness in their life as my friend Janelle. Everything in her house is covered in rainbows and colors. I just love being around her so much! This Adventure Time outfit showcases her personality perfectly.
Have you noticed that Netflix has added The Emperor’s New Groove recently? This is a game changer, guys. Hands down one of the best-animated films out there. This clearly calls for a celebration, so I have put together this illustration, heavily inspired by that scene where Krunk is tasked with poisoning Kuzco… By using the poison chosen specifically for Kuzco…
“Kuzco’s Poison.” (Please read that in Patrick Warburton’s voice for full effect).
My boyfriend, Jeff, inspired me to start a hobby because he has so many! He’s the real reason I have started the Pixel Party (but don’t tell him, it will go right to his head). While he is quite the renaissance man, having many hobbies, one of his favorites is custom paint jobs on nerf guns. Feast your eyes!
It’s time to pop the style shoot cherry. This is my beautiful friend that so graciously agreed to model for me. I’m going to come clean, this IS my first shoot, so getting ready was hilarious. Turns out there was a laundry list of supplies that I forgot to bring that I will need to remember for next time. However, all that aside, I think everything turned out great!
