I have a big announcement to make. It’s not that secret, because it’s in the title, but that’s ok. I’m going to be moving to Orange County, CA in 45 days (not that I’m counting or anything).
My boyfriend is amazing and talented and landed a job as an artist at a studio called Carbine, working on a game called Wildstar! It’s all so exciting, and I couldn’t be more proud! I love watching him live out his dream 🙂
This is really big news for us, as last year we were hoping to relocate and it didn’t quite work out. This year, we weren’t looking as hard, and it just fell in our laps! Isn’t it funny how life works sometimes?
Needless to say this is something we’ve been wanting for a while, but as I sit in my apartment and pack up boxes, I am left a little bit bummed out about leaving my wonderful friends and community here in Phoenix. I have all the faith in the world that I’ll make new friends out in Orange County, but still, new life chapters can be a little bit daunting!
This leads me to a couple of announcements though–
Geek Girl Brunch:
I love the nerd community here in Phoenix. I love it so much, that I was REALLY excited to start a Phoenix Chapter for GGB with two of my very good friends. When we learned we were moving, I was instantly very sad about not being involved in setting the groundwork for the Phoenix Chapter. Well, the ladies at GGB Headquarters are amazing, and they are letting me be an officer remotely. I’ll still be involved with lots of planning and will even be coming back to Phoenix for our large events while we get things going. I just had our first mini-meeting with the other two officers last night, and it’s going to be such a fun year!!
This is a two-parter. While I am moving over the next two months, posts might get a bit more scarce. I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep up with my normal schedule, but I just wanted to warn everyone that there’s a chance I’ll be distracted by mountains and mountains of cardboard, bubble wrap and sharpies.
The second part is that my content might be changing a bit once I move. Right now I have a fantastic group of friends that help me with makeup posts, style posts, boardgame posts and even book reviews. I will be losing my ability to work with a lot of these people once I’m in CA. I do have an AMAZING friend who is also a blogger in OC who I hope to be working with, but that does mean I’ll have to rethink some of my content. I am definitely open to ideas 😉
Other than that, can I get a round of applause for drastic life changes? I’m super excited!! Hello, California!
