This last weekend was Comikaze, or as it is now known, Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con. Jeff and I were only able to swing by on Saturday, but it was the first day I was able to wear my McCree cosplay!! It was SO EXCITING because it’s what I’m considering to be my first “hardcore” cosplay build. I did do a quick Mabel Pines to San Diego though, but this is my first worbla/foam/masking tape patterns all over my body extravaganza.

There were a few things I learned cosplaying this weekend.
1. Practice maybe… 3-4 poses. Otherwise, your hand will be stuck carrying a fake cigar, hovering around your mouth FOREVER. Similar to when your parents said, “If you make that face for too long, it’ll stick that way.” That’s what happened to me. Consider this your warning.
*If you know the other cosplayers, let me know in the comments so I can credit them 🙂
2. Also practice your character’s more popular lines. I KNOW FOR A FACT I said, “It’s hiiigghhhh nooooonnnnnn” with a kermit the frog voice (for some reason?) like, 15 times AT LEAST, to people asking me what time it was. Actually, scratch that. It was perfect. I regret nothing.
3. Do a walk test at home before you head to a convention. Did not do this, and things were SHIFTING, hahahahahaha. Now I know.
4. COSPLAY IS THE BEST AND IT’S SO FUN. This isn’t so much something I learned, but more of something that was confirmed. It’s so fun meeting other people cosplaying within your fandom and walking around all dressed up. The 5-12 year old versions of myself would be very pleased with how I’ve turned out.
*worth mentioning: on my way back to the parking lot, I walked past a little girl that looked up to me and whispered, “she’s so aawweessoommmeeeee.” That’s literally all the validation I needed. I’ve never felt so cool in all my life, and I mean it.
With Emily of The Stylish Geek. Also, me unpredictably posing with the cigar again. Didn’t see that coming, did you?
Also, I plan to do a real shoot of this cosplay with Jeff, so keep an eye out for that too!! Yay!!
My next convention *should be* Wondercon, and I hope to have 1-2 more cosplays built out by then. #Prayforme
