Right now I am packing and cleaning my apartment in preparation for our 12 hour drive to Humboldt County, CA. By the time this goes live, I will have been there for a few days. As I’ve been busying myself with all of the chores, I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to write about. There are a LOT of things I am thankful for right now. I think I’m just going to write about this year.
For anyone that has followed this blog for any length of time might have noticed, there was a little bit of a rough patch (blogging silence) throughout 2014 and early 2015. This last year has been a very transitional year for us. We moved from Arizona to California, something we had wanted for a long time. With big moves however, naturally comes big transitions. We reconnected with old friends but lost accessibility to many friends still in Arizona. I am thankful though for the people who have stayed in my life through this time, and the ones that I have become closer to since moving.
I am so thankful for all of my working situations this year. I started in January at an amazing branding agency in Arizona and upon moving to California, I had a job WITHIN FIVE DAYS at a clothing company called BB Dakota. In fact, I accepted it while I was attending Phoenix Comicon this year. It was the perfect opportunity and really helped to alleviate all of our financial stress that could have easily been really tough for us.
I’m thankful for Carbine, the studio that hired Jeff. It’s the opportunity he’s been waiting for and he is so deserving. He’s talented, hilarious and nice and a hard worker. It’s inspiring to watch him live out his dream every day. If I were doing the same thing, I would be an actress/archeologist right now. AT THE SAME TIME (I think I just wanted to be Harrison Ford).
I am of course thankful for my home life. My dog, R2 and Jeff are perfect. I’m also thankful for this blog and the people I’ve met through it so far. Between the geek blogging community, the cosplay community and geek girl brunch, I’ve met some AMAZING people. I am inspired everyday by this community, and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday this year. Eat lots of sweet potatoes and hug the people (and pets) you love. I’ll be talking to you soon!
