I present to you, my first concept come to life: the Tina Belcher Dress.
For a little while now, I’ve been sketching out ideas for new geek clothes that I can make myself. The more I get into cosplay, the more I want to use these new found skillsets in my geek fashion.
I figure it’s a really similar process actually to conceptualizing new and unique cosplays! Like, when you see a suit of armor inspired by Pokemon, except I’m making dresses… and not armor.
Anyways, the pattern for this dress was actually created using another dress I have at home. I folded it in half to get the base pattern, altered the back slightly to come up higher on the neck, and then did a few easy stitches on the sides and shoulders once the artwork was painted on. I think I’m going to try and perfect this dress though, and use fabric with heat activated glue to make the Tina face. It’s a fun trial and error process, but I think for the first round, I’m really excited about how it turned out.
Speaking of making geek clothes! I launched myself a little Patreon!! I’ll be doing an official blog post soon, talking about my new project that I’m launching with the Patreon page, but just know that it’ll be full of geek fashion goodness 😀 You can check it out at patreon.com/eradscantina
Ok, done with the sales pitch. Let me know what you think!!
